“Standing Outside The Fire”
About 12 years ago I was driving around the East Coast with my boyfriend (my husband now) and listening to some CD’s. One of them was Garth Brooks. The song “Standing Outside The Fire” was on. Have you ever heard it? I had heard “Standing Outside The Fire” a number of times - but this time I was gazing out the window, doing nothing else but listening. I really heard the words and I really understood everything they were saying.
As I was listening I realized that I had a few friends that this song really help me understand. It explained how they behave and how they feel about love. So I sent them the lyrics so they knew that I knew.
I heard this song again today - but realized that it doesn’t just have to be about love. It’s really all about taking chances, risks. It’s about putting yourself out there - “…convinced it’s not living if you stand outside the fire.”
