The Power of Referrals
(This is an oldy - but a goody!)
Referrals are truly a great thing. I know that they are really hard to ask for - believe me, I know.
I have spent some time while on vacation determining what is important for me and my business in order to get more clients. In the past I have not asked for referrals even though people have been kind enough to pass on my name to others. So I have decided to start actually ASKING for them. This is just an awkward thing for me.
But yesterday I gave it try…
I called 2 people - 1 customer and 1 partner in crime.
The partner always keeps in mind for his clients but he didn’t have anyone right now. BUT he did give me some great suggestions.
The customer said that she would keep me in mind. That night she went to a seminar and met a woman that she got talking to. My customer said to the woman that she would just look on her web site for more information. Long story short - the woman needs a web site, my customer said that I would call her, she gave me her name and number and we are planning to meet!
Now it might not work out, but I am just happy that this tactic is working!
So if you are not - ASK FOR REFERRALS!

It is interesting that you had a hard time asking for referrals. So many women have a difficult time not only asking for referrals, but believing that they deserve the referrals.
As the Professional Networker, I am making introductions every day to people. My database is the most valuable thing I have (besides my family). I give quality, strategic referrals that stick and therefore I have a huge database of satisfied clients, friends and business associates.
My philosophy is the more I give - unconditionally, when I do need something I can ask without fear of a “no”. When I do a job, I give 200%, then it is a natural to ask for the referral since I know my client is satisfied.
Great post.

Thank you for your comment Sharon! It is amazing how many people will not ask for referrals. Giving quality referrals, as well as giving a job 200% is the key!
