Drupal or Wordpress?
July 27th, 2007
As you know I use Wordpress and I have never had any issues with it (except there are too many choices
)Â I have a new blog for someone that I am getting started so I decided to check out Drupal. Arghhh - I am really having a heck of a time with configuring it.
I can’t even make the site show up - you just go right to the admin page. Anyone else have these problems? Do you prefer one over the other and why?
After hours of playing with it - I am back to ! My first love - Wordpress!

Sorry to hear of the Drupal problems. It’s a great CMS, but yes, there are some difficulties for newcomers. I’ve started a site to assist Drupal newbies, http://www.drupalace.com , though not knowing details of your attempt, couldn’t say why you weren’t getting the main page to show up.
I picked Drupal as it’s (to my understanding) more of an open-ended toolkit than a blogging-focused system, and that fit the varied sites I wanted to build. I haven’t used Wordpress so can’t compare, but if WP is blogging-oriented as I’ve heard, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s easier to set up for a blog-focused site. In the end, you have to go with what fits your needs!
I agree with you - I heard that it was more of a CMS than Wordpress. So I wanted to give it a try. WP seems to let designers have more contol right off the bat. With Drupal I had to install a node or something to get that functionality.
I don’t know - maybe it’s just what I was used to so it was hard to think differently. I will probably try it again!
Thanks for your thoughts
